In a very competitive game, a determined and well disciplined St. Patrick’s finally defeated a talented Cargin team, who had narrowly beaten them twice in recent league matches. Aaron McDonald opened the scoring with a point and this was followed by a brace by Sean O’Doherty. Cargin replied with a point but St. Patrick’s applied fantastic pressure in the middle of the park  to turn over the ball and force Cargin to over carry. Sean O’Doherty continued to take points  with cargin only able to add a point to their tally

Cargin started the 2nd half with a goal in the opening minute, however the excellent half backs lead by Martin Beeton, supported superbly by Conor Flynn in midfield and the outstanding half forward line of Mark Waksh, Conor O and Cormac O tightened their grip on the middle third. Michael Brannan added a point, then following some super play O’Doherty goaled. Cargin then had a player sent to the line with a red card and this allowed St. Patrick’s to be more expansive in their play, Brannan setting up O’Doherty for another 3 pointer. Within 5 minutes St Pats scored two more points Tto close out the game.
FT St.Patricks 2-10 Cargin 1-2

This was an outstanding performance with the team dominating in the majority of the key sectors, not many teams have restricted to Cargin to 3 scores in 60 minutes football! Flynn and O’Doherty were exceptional in their play. The Cargin manager was gracious in defeat and congratulated the team on their performance and wished them well in the final.

The final is pencilled in for Sunday 11th September @ 1pm Venue TBC

On Tuesday 23rd Aug, St Pats started as strong favourites to advance to a semi final meeting with Glenavy, even tough they were missing a few players. In the opening minutes , it took the St.Pats lads time to settle, with Rasharkin playing a defensive style. Rasharkin had a player dismmissed from the pitch for an off the ball incident. After a some reorganisation, St Pats started to attack with more purpose using the spare player to cover and sweep up. Conor Stinton opened the scoring (something which he continued throughout the match). Mark Boylan goaled to settle the team. Rasharkin replied with 2 points, but St Pats added on four Stinton points and one from Conor Dixon.

Half Time St Pats 1-6 Rasharkin 0-3


The second half started with a Rasharkin goal as they pressed from the start, Daniel Smyth cancelled this with a goal , then St Pats went into top gear scoring 2-6 without reply, with some super team play and linking defence with attack, Eoin Mulholland sent over a good point, while Conor Stinton bagged 2-05.

Full Time: St Pats 4-12 Rasharkin 1-03.
