St Patricks GAC Lisburn

St Patricks U 16 bounce back to defeat league leaders Cargin.

The Under 16 team bounced back last Thursday 27 May with a tremendous result against league leaders Cargin. The Lisburn lads started brightly with a lead of 1-03 to 0-01. By the 15th minute with P McMahon at full forward contributing 1-01. Then Cargin hit back and and within five minutes had gone a point ahead mainly due to some impressive running from the Cargin midfield. M. Fagan then got the equaliser and St Patrick s finished the half stronger with Owens and Fagan hitting the onion bag for 3 points a piece. Halftime score was Cargin 1-06 Lisburn 3-04. The second half showed Lisburn to be a great team holding Cargin scoreless for the full 30 minutes. Up to this Cargin had been unbeaten in the league so this was no mean achievement. The Lisburn defence was simply superb, not giving an inch with disciplined tackling and at all times remaining alert to the runners from midfield. The forwards on the other hand were scoring at will.  Final score Cargin 1-06 St. Patrick’s 7-10. This was simply an amazing result and puts the local lads back top of the table along with Cargin and Ballymena. Next match is at home on 3rd June at 7:30hrs at home to Creggan. All support would be greatly appreciated.
