St.Patricks U-12 made their seasonal debut at Woodlands on Saturday 28th. The match was hindered by the strong winds making the match a game of two halves. A very solid defensive display by Conor Dixon, Conor Stinton , Peter O’Neill and Conor Hall restricted the stronger (slightly older!) St.Agnes team to four scores in the first half.
St.Patricks strong performance in midfield through Eamon Compston and Adam Heaps hoovered up possession and resulted in several good passage of play that the st.Pats forwards failed to take advantage off.
Playing with the wind in the second half the game was much more productive for the st.Pats team, as the forwards got more into the game, Mark and Paul O’Hanlon made some good passes to set up two well worked goals scored by Eamon Compston and Peter Drayne. The team made some excellent tackles and restricted and frustrated the St.Agnes team to four scores in the second half. The team were tired by the end of this useful workout.
The team will learn from this experience and this will help to develop their team play and team work during training.
Stronger performances and a number of players missing due to injuries will undoubtedly improve the team for the SW league season which starts on friday 17th of April away to Aldergrove.
Training for U-12s Saturday 2-3pm Freinds School Pitch.
