St Patricks GAC Lisburn

St Patrick’s U12 are SW Antrim Champions!

On Saturday29th September, the Under 12 St. Patrick’s Lisburn team season culminated in the South West Antrim Shield Final against Creggan Kickham’s , played at a well -prepared Glenavy venue. John O’Doherty’s well drilled team were determined to take the title back to Kirkwoods park.

St. Patrick’s started the match at a frantic pace, which Creggan found difficult to contend with. The first ten minutes were very tough for both teams , as the sides attacked without any danger to the score board. Eventually, St Patricks found the range and began to play some fast flowing all out attack. This lead to a succession of quick scores from Sean O Doherty and Mark Boylan. St.Patrick’s increased their work rate and the quality of their passing , especially from Aaron Mc Donnell and Michael Fegan set up a goal for Sean O’ Doherty. Creggan rallied with two points from frees after solid defensive work by Killian Drayne and Daniel O’Hanlon dominating in the square. In one last flowing move, from defensive to attack, the ball fell nicely for Sean O’Doherty to rasp the ball to the back of the net.
half time : St.Patrick’s 2-4 Creggan 0-3

The St.Patricks team were ready for a Creggan onslaught in the second half. The Creggan team were fired up as they strived to attack from the throw in. Creggan’s tall midfielder and excellent wing half forwards began to dominate the play. However , the Creggan attack were unable to break through a solid defence of Cormac O’Hanlon and Mark Chernek. The defence was well supported by Conor O’Doherty and Aaron Mc Donnell. Eventually, Creggan scored a goal. St.Patrick’s began to counter attack but were guilty of some poor shooting, while also hitting the crossbar from close range on two occasions.
